Changing your exhaust will not effect your idle characteristics, only a cam change(or a bad vacuum leak. ![]() As for selecting any other cams, the Crane 2031 as I understand is a fine replacement. The stock cobra cam will idle nice, as I said it actually has less duration than the 5.0 HO cam, as for tuning, I've never heard of any problems other than the cobra EEC is "performace challenged" due to the fact it cuts out timing in higer RPM's, but if your going to use the standard 5.0 HO EEC, than don't worry about it, just remember your Cobra engine if bone stock will have 24 lbs injectors, so a MAF recalibration will be in order. The Crane 2031 was suposed to be an upgrade cam offered by Crane, to work well with the cobra EEC programming, and GT 40 heads, I remember discussing this with the guys at Crane at one point.but my memory is not always the best. As I understand the cam is the same on the intake and the exhaust (square). The cam has a lobe lift of 0.28822" over the stock 5.0 HO lift of 0.2775" + the Cobra used 1.7 rocker ratios standard. It actually has less advertised duration compared to the stock 5.0 HO(not sure of the figure), but more lift. Actually (at least I thought).the 94-95 cobra cam is the same as the 93 Cobra (so's the whole motor for that matter).
